About the Artist
Delena Crites, also known as YaYa, has struggled on and off with homelessness for 12 years, and came to Chattanooga in 2020. She is a survivor of domestic abuse and a cancer survivor. She started painting in 2019 to cope with the loss of her Fiancé to cancer, and has continued on her creative journey ever since; you may have seen her on the walking bridge selling her paintings. She now has 6 kids, 4 step kids, 5 grandkids, and 3 step grandkids. She lives with her new Fiancé, Robert, and her Chihuahua terrier, Girly. She hopes to advocate for the unhoused through her art.
