Roxie Lewis

Roxie Lewis of Chattanooga says that art and crafting have always been a part of her life. For years, she assisted with teaching crafts with the kids at her church, in addition to doing her own art. However, this all changed in 2003. She had to have multiple surgeries on her eyes due to Diabetic Retinopathy. Though the potential for a complete loss of vision was there, she was able to retain some tunnel vision in one of her eyes. She was still able to help out with the kids at church, but not work on her own art. Then, in early 2017, she was introduced to H*Art Gallery through Signal Centers. She now happily attends a low/no vision art class here at the gallery, which offers her the opportunity “to create whatever my heart and soul sees” and she also notes, “art is (my) happy place.”
