Chattanooga-born artist, Carrie Pendergrass, received her B.F.A. degree in Studio Art, with a concentration in Painting from the University of TN. Knoxville in 1997. She began teaching art in various public and private capacities to all age groups from child to adult, upon her return to Chattanooga in 1998. She decided to further pursue a career in art education and in 2005 received her M.Ed. from the University of TN. Chattanooga, along with a certification to teach art in k-12. She has worked as a full-time art teacher in the middle and high school levels. She also teaches art to 2nd grade public school students through an Arts Build grant-funded Artist-in-Residency Program.
